Writing and SEND in the English Classroom

£45.00

This course is co-designed and delivered by Jennifer Webb and Amjad Ali.

Why is writing so hard? What can we do about it?

How can we help students to write MORE and write BETTER?

How can we build up confidence in students with low self-efficacy as writers?

How might we remove barriers in the classroom to support students to focus, understand, plan, elaborate, draft and redraft better?

How can we help SEND students see themselves as writers?

How can we support SEND students to flourish in independent exam writing?

Jennifer and Amjad will explore the issues and outline a range of practical, evidence informed strategies for teachers which combine each of their specialist areas. The course will focus on practice in the secondary classroom, and will be appropriate for teachers in mainstream as well as other settings such as special schools, PRUs, and other specialist provisions.

Amjad Ali is a widely respected expert in the SEND field, author of ‘A Little Guide for Teachers: SEND in Schools’, and an experienced senior leader with a focus on KS4 outcomes in areas of high disadvantage.
